Fishing and Social Media

In March of this year I published an article asking the question. Will Social media help fishermen keep in touch on Lake Erie? I had a lot of response. Most thought it was a good idea especially texting but thought the range of their phones was too limited on Lake Erie. Yesterday while on a walleye fishing trip I checked my Iphone (Verizon) at various locations. We were as far north as the border near North Bass and Middle Island. I still had three bars and could send and receive text messages. One problem was that as we approached the border I got a message that said welcome to Canada and that I would be charged roaming charges unless I switched to WiFi. The walleye were biting so instead of switching to WiFi I just turned the phone off until we were a little farther south. I am anxious to get comments from any of you that have tried texting while on the lake. I think it would be a great way to keep in touch. Leave a comment and let us know what kind of success you have had.
